Succubus dreams

Richelle Mead

Demons, Supernatural

The story:

Some days, a girl just can’t catch a break … especially when the girl in question is Georgina Kincaid, a shape-shifting succubus who gets her energy from seducing men. First there’s her relationship with gorgeous bestselling writer Seth Mortensen, which is unsatisfying on a number of levels. It’s not just that they can’t have sex in case Georgina inadvertently kills him (generally a turn-off for most guys). Lately, even spending time together is a challenge. Seth’s obsessed with finishing his latest novel, and Georgina’s under demonic orders to mentor the new (and surprisingly inept) succubus on the block.

Then there are the dreams. Someone, or something, is preying on Georgina at night, draining her energy, and supplying eerie visions of her future. Georgina seeks answers from Dante, a dream interpreter with ties to the underworld, but his flirtatious charm only leaves her more confused-especially as the situation with Seth reaches crisis point. Now Georgina faces a double challenge-rein in her out-of-control love life, and go toe-to-toe with an enemy capable of wreaking serious havoc among mankind. Otherwise, Georgina, and the entire mortal world, may never sleep easy again

The view of a book addict:

I’ve loved this series from the first book, at the beginning I was afraid there would be to0 much steamy scenes in the book because the main character is a succubus. It turned out that this wasn’t the case. I love the main character, she is a strong women but she has a breakable side also.
The story just sucked me in from the first page, just like the other two books. What speaks to me in these books is that they keep me guessing until the end, just like the main character. It’s not that you know from page one what’s going on and that makes a great book if you ask me.
It’s also fun to read about all the other characters you came to know about and meeting new ones of course.

The verdict of a book addict:

Great third book in a series I really want to know what’s in store next for Georgina and her friends.

Booktitle: Bloodlines
Richelle Mead
Release date ( if known) :
young adult, vampires
Goodreads summary

Bloodlines is a spin off of the series “Vampire Academy.” It centers around Sydney, a human alchemist. Jill, a Moroi Vampire will also have a key role. The male lead will be a love interest from Vampire Academy.

Bloodlines takes place at a high school in California. We’re still in the same universe and with the same

rules as Vampire Academy.

Why do I want to read this book?

I’m a big vampire academy fan, so it’s not a big suprise that I really want this book. I just want to know what will happen with Sydney and I’m dying to know who the male lead is! But I’ll have to wait a little longer befor I know all this. But there is no doubt in my mind that this will be an amazing series again.

Review Succubus Nights by Richelle Mead

Goodreads summary:

Georgina Kincaid’s job sucks. Literally.

Love hurts, and no one knows it better than Georgina Kincaid. If she so much as kisses her new boyfriend, she’ll drain his life force. Georgina is a succubus—a demon who draws her power from other men’s pleasure. Admittedly, the shapeshifting and immortality perks are terrific, and yes, Georgina did choose to join the ranks of hell centuries ago. But it seems completely unfair that a she-demon whose purpose is seduction can’t get hot and heavy with the one mortal who knows and accepts her for who she is.

It’s not just her personal life that’s in chaos. Doug, Georgina’s co-worker at a local bookstore, has been exhibiting bizarre behavior, and Georgina suspects that something far more demonic than double espressos is at work. She could use help finding out, but Bastien, an irresistibly charming incubus and her best immortal friend, is preoccupied in the suburbs with corrupting an ultra-conservative talk radio star—and giving Georgina some highly distracting come-hither vibes. Georgina is going to have to work solo on this one—and fast because soon, Doug’s life won’t be the only one on the line…

Review: May contain spoilers if you haven’t read the first book

The story picks up were we left of in the last book, Georgina is still in love with Seth and she still can’t kiss him without taking his life force. So they struggle through their realationship throughout the whole book. Georgina has to find out if she loves Seth enough to be with him.

But there is more, Georgina’s friend Bastien is in town and wants to bring down a political person. Bastion is a Incubus the male version of the succubus. He asks georgina to help him by playing his sister. Because of a situation Georgina gets really mad at Bastian and she doesn’t want to help him anymore. Of course in the end she does help him. This is one of the big story lines in this book.

Another big story line is the story of Doug, he is Georgina’s co-worker and friendn and he plays in a band. The band is good but suddenly they are amazing, but Doug suffers from moodchanges. One minute he is happy and unstoppable and the next minute he is depressed. Georgina decides to figure out what’s wrong with him and finds out that one of his bandmembers is giving out drugs. Not just any kind of drugs but the food of the gods. Together with a demon and an angel she decides to confront the real dealer of the drugs, another immortal. But before she gets a chance to do that something bad happens to Doug, and that triggers her to visit the dealer and deal with him.

I liked this book even more than the first one, because you already know all the main characters you can just dive into the book and the story. The story moves at a fast pace but not so fast that you can’t follow all the storylines.
Most of the time I find myself in trouble with keeping up with a lot of storylines running through each other but that wasn’t any problem at all with this book

And just like the first book there wasn’t that much sex in the book, something I thought was really good. It would be just so easy to put a lot of sex in the book because the main character is a succubus. It was an amazing book and I can’t wait to read the next one!

Author Friday: Richelle Mead

Published 07/01/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

Every friday I blog about an author I love, this week it’s Richelle Mead. To be honest at first I only knew her from the Vampire academy series but last year I also discovered the succubus series and even the first novel of the Dark swan series is waiting on my bookshelf.

I just love the way she writes, I get sucked into her stories and they won’t let me go until the end of the book. But as I said before for me it started with the Vampire Academy series. I’ve always been a Vampire fan but after reading Twilight I needed another series, I like twilight and I still do but the books don’t come close to the Vampire academy series. A amazing heroïn and of course good looking men, because we all need some good looking men in our books don’t we?

After I found out that the vampire academy series was ending I wanted to know if she wrote any other books, and that’s when I found the Succubus series. I only got the first book because I didn’t know if I would like the books but after reading the first book I wanted to read them all. Because a mistake I ordered not the second book in the succubus series but the second book in the Dark swan series. So for christmas I asked the first novel of the dark swan series and the rest of the succubus series. They are now waiting to be read, actually I’m reading the second succubus novel and I’m loving it!!! So that’s it for me about Richelle Mead.

Review: Vampire academy: Last Sacrifice by Richelle mead

Goodreads Summary:

Rose Hathaway has always played by her own rules.

She broke the law when she ran away from St. Vladimir’s Academy with her best friend and last surviving Dragomir Princess, Lissa. She broke the law when she fell in love with her gorgeous, off-limits instructor, Dimitri. And she dared to defy Queen Tatiana, leader of the Moroi world, risking her life and reputation to protect generations of dhampir guardian to come.

Now the law has finally caught up with Rose- for a crime she didn’t even commit. She’s in prison for the highest offense imaginable: the assassination of a monarch. She’ll need help from both Dimitri and Adrian to find the one living person who can stall her execution and force the Moroi elite to acknowledge a shocking new candidate for the royal throne: Vasilisa Dragomir.

But the clock on Rose’s life is running out. Rose knows in her heart the world of the dead wants her back… and this time she is truly out of second chances. The big question is, when your life is about saving others, who will save you?

Review: Contains spoilers

So the story picks up where the last book ended, Rose is in prison because they think she killed the queen. Of course her friends won’t believe that she did it and they want to prove she’s is innocent. But time is ticking and they decide the only way to prove Rose is innocent is to get more time to find out who did. And to get more time they decide to get Rose out of jail and of course their plan works. Rose is out of jail and on the run with Dimitri and Sydney.

But at home things aren’t easy either not only is everyone looking for Rose, they also need to elect a new king or queen. Back to Rose she has another task at hand, she wants to find the unknown brother or sisther of Lissa just as the queen asked her to do in a letter. And she gets unexpected and unwanted help from Victor.

Victor has another strange proposal to delay things at court he comes up with a strange plan to let Lissa run for queen. Because she doesn’t have any living relatives she could never make it as queen but it will provide a welcome distraction. Rose tells Adrian about this plan in a spirit dream, and he makes sure Lissa gets to take part in the ritual of becoming queen. To become a king or queen you have to past a couple of tests and you get to experience all her tests through the bond Rose and Lissa share.

The biggest link Rose has is to find a former teacher turned strigoi named Sonya, this women probably knows who this secret brother or sister is. Of course Victor and is spirit using brother decide they should join Rose and show up at Sonya’s house. They do help them because Robert is a spirit user, he gets Sonya back, she is no longer strigoi. And she does know who this brother or sister is but swore never to tell anyone.

After a lot talking Sonya helps them find the brother or sister and Rose is very suprised when she meets him/her. ( I’m not going to spoil everything. ) But that’s not the ending of course because the guardians are called and Rose and Dimitri have to run away again. In the meantime Lissa has found out some clues about the real murderer of the queen. With the evidence Lissa provides through their bond and the things Rose finds out for herself she now has a clue as to who did it. But the ending is suprising, because they never suspected the real murderer. I won’t tell anything about the ending you just have to read it for yourselve.

I just let out a big sigh when I finished the book, what a beautiful ending to an amazing series. After reading Twilight I wanted to read more vampire books and so I found the Vampire Academy series, I inmediatly fell in love with the chracters and couldn’t wait to read the next book and the next. But this book was diffrent I really wanted to read it but on the other hand I really didn’t. I didn’t want this story to end I just wanted to keep reading about them and that’s why it took me longer to finish this book than it would normaly. But enough about me now let’s go on about the book

If you ask me there couldn’t have been a better ending to this series, it ended so beautiful! I was affraid that I wouldn’t like this book because it would be about Rose a lot and you wouldn’t know what happened in the lives of the other characters. But the bond Lissa and Rose shared made sure we did, I loved all the parts about the tests Lissa had to go through to become a queen. And she is going to make the best queen ever I just know it!

And of course Dimitri and Rose getting back together was inescapable they just belong together! But I did feel sad for Adrian because he really loved Rose and I just know he would have done anything to make her happy. So I understood why he was so mad at her in the end not only for the betrayal but for breaking his hart.

I feel priveleged that I was a part of their lives through reading about them and I will really miss all of them!

Review: Succubus Blues by Richelle mead

Published 23/11/2010 by supernaturalreadingaddict

Goodreads summary:

Succubus (n.) An alluring, shape-shifting demon who seduces and pleasures mortal men. Pathetic (adj.) A succubus with great shoes and no social life. See: Georgina Kincaid.

When it comes to jobs in hell, being a succubus seems pretty glamorous. A girl can be anything she wants, the wardrobe is killer, and mortal men will do anything just for a touch. Granted, they often pay with their souls, but why get technical?
But Seattle succubus Georgina Kincaid’s life is far less exotic. Her boss is a middle-management demon with a thing for John Cusack movies. Her immortal best friends haven’t stopped teasing her about the time she shape-shifted into the Demon Goddess getup complete with whip and wings. And she can’t have a decent date without sucking away part of the guy’s life. At least there’s her day job at a local bookstore–free books; all the white chocolate mochas she can drink; and easy access to bestselling, sexy writer, Seth Mortensen, aka He Whom She Would Give Anything to Touch but Can’t.
But dreaming about Seth will have to wait. Something wicked is at work in Seattle’s demon underground. And for once, all of her hot charms and drop-dead one-liners won’t help because Georgina’s about to discover there are some creatures out there that both heaven and hell want to deny…
I loved this book, I picked up this book after reading the summary on amazon. I really liked the story and decided to buy a copy of the book.

It’s been on my shelve for a month or two but I decided to pick it up and I haven’t regret it ever since. I love Georgina!! She is amazing!
I was a bit affraid that the story would be all about sex because Georgina is a succubus but it didn’t! And until the end I never figured out who was behind the murders.

I hope the second book will be just as good as this one I can’t wait to read it!
