Alexia Tarabotti, Lady Maccon, has settled into domestic bliss. Of course, being Alexia, such bliss involves integrating werewolves into London High society, living in a vampire’s second best closet, and coping with a precocious toddler who is prone to turning supernatural willy-nilly. Even Ivy Tunstell’s acting troupe’s latest play, disastrous to say the least, cannot put a damper on Alexia’s enjoyment of her new London lifestyle.
Until, that is, she receives a summons from Alexandria that cannot be ignored. With husband, child, and Tunstells in tow, Alexia boards a steamer to cross the Mediterranean. But Egypt may hold more mysteries than even the indomitable Lady Maccon can handle. What does the vampire Queen of the Alexandria Hive really want from her? Why is the God-Breaker Plague suddenly expanding? And how has Ivy Tunstell suddenly become the most popular actress in all the British Empire?
Why do I want to read this book?
I just love this series, so I can’t wait to read what’s going to happen next to Alexia Tarabotti!
It’s wednesday already so time for a wonderful series wednesday. The series this week is:
Series title: The parasol protectorate
Author: Gail Carriger
How many books are there: Three for now
Catagory: Steampunk, Urban fantasy
What is the series about:
In this series you follow Alexia Tarabotti, Alexia is soulles. This means that she doesn’t have a soul. She is the daughter of an English mother and a Italian father, this makes her very diffrent from all the other English girls. Her mother is remarried to an English man and has two other daughters. The story is set in Victorian London and the fact that Alexia isn’t married is food for gossips. Meanwhile Vampires and Werewolves roam the streets of London and you can take a ride on a steamdriven zeplin. So it’s not a normal victorian story, because Alexia is soulless she is one of the few people that can fight the supernatural. Although people know about the vampires and werwolves and most of them act normal there are some that try to give the supernatural creatures a bad name.
