Review: Forever by Maggie Stiefvater

Published 08/08/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

Maggie Stiefvater
Young Adult, werewolves

The story:

The thrilling conclusion to #1 bestselling Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy from Maggie Stiefvater.

In Maggie Stiefvater’s Shiver, Grace and Sam found each other. InLinger, they fought to be together. Now, in Forever, the stakes are even higher than before. Wolves are being hunted. Lives are being threatened. And love is harder and harder to hold on to as death comes closing in

The view of a book addict:
I believe it was a beautiful ending to a beautiful trilogy, although the ending leaves you with a lot of questions. When I started this series I just fell in love with the diffrent view on werewolves. I never read something like this, so I was so happy to find out there would be two more books.
This book is an ending but not the ending of the story because it’s not a “and they lived happily ever afer” kind of story. But I believe that this is a good ending and I don’t think that any other ending would work.
The verdict of a book addict:

A great last book, it made me scream, laugh and cry. If you ask me that’s what makes a good book!

Review: Afterlife by Naomi Clark

Published 29/04/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

Title:               Afterlife
Author:           Naomi Clark
Pages:             296 ( on my e-reader )
Catagory:        Vampire Paranormal

The story:

Yasmin Stoker is a ghost tour guide who spends her days showing tourists around Shoregrave’s haunted hotspots. She also happens to be a wraith who spends her nights hunting Revenants, newly-risen flesh-eating vampires. On one of her regular hunts, she witnesses a mysterious ghostly girl pulling the body of a teenage boy underground. Who and what is this girl, and why is she attacking men around the city? Yasmin investigates, but it quickly becomes clear that somebody wants to keep her from finding the killer and they’ll do anything–including ambushing her with ghouls and cacodaemons–to stop her.

With only a persistent private eye and a taciturn vampire (one of the Immaculate, no less) to help her, Yasmin must deal with fanatical necromancers, crazed ghosts, and a sexy history teacher in her quest to solve the mystery. And along the way she uncovers some heartbreaking truths about her own existence

The view of a book addict:

This story is beyond amazing, you get thrown right into the action. After the action the author reveals the world she created bit by bit. I loved the main character she’s someone I could be friends with.
I loved the world the author created in this book, not just the mortal world and the demon world. It has more layers and a lot of diffrent creatures.

The verdict of a book addict:

An amazing book set in a wonderful scary place. If you like a book with a lot of action like me, this is your book!

Review: Once in a full moon by Ellen Schreiber

Published 12/02/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

Title:               Once in a full moon
Author:           Ellen Schreiber
Pages:             292
Catagory:        Werewolves, Young Adult

The story:

Beware of a kiss under the full moon. It will change your life forever.

Celeste Parker is used to hearing scary stories about werewolves—Legend’s Run is famous for them. She’s used to everything in the small town until Brandon Maddox moves to Legend’s Run and Celeste finds herself immediately drawn to the handsome new student. But when, after an unnerving visit with a psychic, she encounters a pack of wolves and gorgeous, enigmatic Brandon, she must discover whether his transformation is more than legend or just a trick of the shadows in the moonlight.
Her best friends may never forgive her if she gives up her perfect boyfriend, Nash, for Brandon, who’s from the wrong side of town. But she can’t deny her attraction or the strong pull he has on her. Brandon may be Celeste’s hero, or he may be the most dangerous creature she could encounter in the woods of Legend’s Run.
Psychic predictions, generations-old secrets, a town divided, and the possibility of falling in love with a hot and heroic werewolf are the perfect formula for what happens . . . once in a full moon.

The view of a book addict:

This book is just as I expected, a good love story with a supernatural element. I love the way Ellen schreiber writes her stories, they’re not complicated and hard to read. You just fly over the pages of the book. Wanting to know what will happen, wil she get the boy or not? What’s happening in the town and how much of the legend is true? Those are the questions you want to see answered
The story moves along in a fast pace but you do get the time to learn about the characters. What I love about the story is that in real life you do know someone like the main characters and that makes them easy to love.

The verdict of a book addict:

It’s a fun and lovely story with supernatural elements, if you like the vampire kisses series you’ll love this one as well.

Books I really want: Tempest’s Legacy (Jane True Series) by Nicole Peeler

Published 17/01/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict
Tempest’s Legacy ( Jane true series #3 )
By Nicole Peeler

Monday is here again so here another book on my wishlist: Tempest’s legacy by Nicole Peeler. I came across the Jane true series on the internet, to be honest I don’t know what site it was anymore, but I just liked the cover. I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but this one looked amazing. So I decided to search the book aan Amazon and see what it’s about.
The story spoke to me immediatly, I never read about a Selkie before and I’m always looking for new things to read about.

So now I’m waiting for the third book in this series to come out, I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen with Jane now and what kind of creatures she will meet this time. Here’s the Goodreads summary of the book

Jane True has become proficient in basic magics, confident in herself and her abilities, and happily rooted in Rockabill. Her life is still divided between her supernatural brethren and her human friends and family, but it’s a division she maintains with very little trouble.

Everything changes, however, when Anyan brings Jane news that will force her to confront her dichotomized existence – supernatural females are being murdered, or have simply disappeared.

Jane and Anyan must embark on a desperate search to find out who is abducting these women, and how Jane can be protected from them. Aiding them is Jane’s former flame, Ryu. But can his stated motivations be trusted? And who are the mysterious figures dogging Jane’s and Anyan’s footsteps if not minions of Jarl?

Eventually, the trio stumble upon a secret so huge that it threatens to disrupt the tenuous traditions keeping humanity safe from the supernatural community that has, up until now, been content to lurk in the shadows.

Will they uncover the truth in time to save Jane’s friends? And just how far will Jarl go to protect his secrets

So that’s it for this week! Next week another book!

Books I really want: Hard Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires #4 ) by Chloe Neill

Published 10/01/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

It’s monday again so here a blog about a book I really want. This week it’s chicagoland vampires by Chloe Neill.

I’ve discovered this series last year, ordered the first book first and became addicted to the series. I love the way Chloe Neill describes how Merrit sturggles with her being a vampire and all the rules she has to follow.
I had a little trouble getting into the first book because of the writing style but after the first chapter I couldn’t put the book down and ordered the second book right away. The third book was a christmas present, one of the best christmas presents ever!
So now I’m wating for the next book, what will happen with Merrit, will she and Ethan get together or not? Well I’ll have to wait a little longer but I already know what the cover will look like and what the story will be about so here’s the goodreads summary:
Times are hard for newly minted vampire Merit. Ever since shapeshifters announced their presence to the world, humans have been rallying against supernaturals–and they’re camping outside of Cadogan House with protest signs that could turn to pitchforks at any moment. Inside its doors, things between Merit and her Master, green-eyed heartbreaker Ethan Sullivan are … tense. But then the mayor of Chicago calls Merit and Ethan to a clandestine meeting and tells them about a violent vamp attack that has left three women missing. His message is simple: get your House in order. Or else.

Merit needs to get to the bottom of this crime, but it doesn’t help that she can’t tell who’s on her side. So she secretly calls in a favor from someone who’s tall, dark, and part of underground vamp group that may have some deep intel on the attack. Merit soon finds herself in the heady, dark heart of Chicago’s supernatural society–a world full of vampires who seem too ready to fulfill the protesting human’s worst fears, and a place where she’ll learn that you can’t be a vampire without getting a little blood on your hands..

So now the waiting begins for the next book, reading the goodreads summary I have to say the waiting will be hard!

Books I really want: Forever by Maggie Stiefvater

Published 03/01/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

So on monday I always tell about a book a want really bad, and today that’s Forever by Maggie Stiefvater. I’ve read the first book in dutch because I just didn’t know there would be any other books after the first one. So shiver for me was translated into “Fluister”. But after visiting a forum were they told me there would be more books I decided to switch to English because most of the time it takes ages before the book comes out in dutch.

So after reading the second book in English I got the chance to meet Maggie for the translated version of the book. There were a lot of big publishing people but she made time for me and my friend and after that I just loved her more!! And that’s one of the reasons I can’t wait for the next book to come out, meeting her made me even love her more. And although she didn’t tell me anything about the book I have a feeling that something I might not like is going to happen.

But the biggest reason is that I want to know what’s going to happen to all the characters, will they find what they looking for and get the chance to live the lives they always wanted to. I just hope that I’m going to love the ending, but I have a feeling I will! So now I have to wait until July before I can read the ending of this story.

books I really want: Afterlife by Claudia Gray

Published 27/12/2010 by supernaturalreadingaddict

From book one I’ve been in love with the evernight series by Cladia gray. I’ve always been a sucker for a good vampire story and after reading the summary of this book I just wanted to read it and so I did.
But the problem with most series is that they leave you wanting more by the end of the book. And that’s what happened after reading the first book. But I patiently waited for the next book to come out.

And the next book was even better than the first, so the waiting began again of course for the thrid book and after the third book I really hated myself for finishing it so soon! It meant I had to wait longer to know what would happen next in the story. The waiting ends in march but that;s still a long time to go before I know what will happen with Bianca and lucas, I cried for them at the end of Hourglass and I’m dying to know if it will work out for them in Afterlife!

Books I’m waiting for

Published 23/11/2010 by supernaturalreadingaddict

So I’m a really big fan of series, I read a lot of them but the thing I hate the most about them is the fact that I have to wait for the next book to come out.
A lot of books I didn’t write a review of and that really sucks because I can’t look back and say hey I really liked this part but I hated that part etc. So maybe I will re-read those books and write a review after, or maybe I’ll just keep it this way.

But at this moment there are a lot of books I’m waiting for, here is my list of must reads:

– Last Sacrifce ( Vampire academy ) By Richelle mead (comes out December 7th )
– Forever by Maggie Stiefvater ( comes out July 2011 )
– Darkest Mercy ( wickeld lovely series ) by Melissa Marr ( comes out march 2011 )

Of course there are a lot of other books I really want to read but these three are the books I’m really waiting for at the moment. But I know these books will be worth waiting for, so for now I’ll read the books I already have and enjoy them!
