Follow Friday 10

Published 29/03/2013 by supernaturalreadingaddict

So it’s Friday again and time for another Follow Friday! Here’s this weeks question:

Q: Tell us about the most emotional scene you’ve ever read in a book – and how did you react?

This is a good one, I have to say the most emotional scene I’ve read is in The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls by Emilie Autumn. I love this book, it’s part fiction and part non fiction. The fiction part is set in a Victorian Asylum and the main character is named Emily, after being tortured by the chasers in the Asylum she and the other girls take over the asylum by force and decide to stay there. On a new years eve, the are having a party on the top of the roof of the building and they feel the building collapsing. They decide that moment that they will stay together forever and all jump from the roof. It isn’t a happy ending, but it’s beautiful. I actually shed a tear when I read that chapter.

Teaser Tuesday #5

Published 26/03/2013 by supernaturalreadingaddict

I have to admit this is one of my favourite meme’s! So I love participating in this one. And here is my teaser:

I couldn’t help but stare. The child’s jaw protruded at an odd angle below a nearly nonexistent nose.

( The Madman’s daughter by Megan Shepherd p. 100 )

I found this book last week at a bookstore and I’m glad I bought it, I really like it so far.

So happy Tuesday and keep reading!

It’s Friday again, so time to go for another round of Follow Friday! And here’s this weeks activity

Q: What is your guilty pleasure as far as reading? Is it a genre, or is it a certain type of book?

I don’t think I have a guilty pleasure, I wouldn’t know one to be honest.

Night Demon

The story:

Deep within the Yucatan jungle a demon has awakened…

Gretchen Finch’s job would be much easier if she weren’t alone in the jungle with a brilliant recluse whose every glance sets her on fire. But the more she focuses on her work, the closer she gets to unlocking the mysteries of a terrible creature – the Night Demon – that threatens the world as she knows it. Though her scientific mind tells her it’s impossible, she’s beginning to believe the ancient Mayan tales as the sinister jungle comes alive around her.

Lukas Smith has spent hundreds of years searching for answers to his immortal Night Walker nature. As a series of ancient glyphs become clear, he’s about to find out more than he’d ever hoped, but the more he learns, the more his fate intertwines with the Night Demon, and the harder it becomes to hide his immortal secret from the beautiful, intelligent Gretchen.

Together, they must find a way to stop the inexplicable violence and mass destruction surging across the earth before the Night Demon destroys more than just mankind.

The view of a book addict:

First she made me fall in love with Calisto, then with Kane and now I can add Lukas to my list. I don’t know how she does it, but I love every one of her characters, even the bad guys!

Just like Nightwalker and Night Thief this book is an instant addiction. I started reading it Saturday night and I finished it today. I don’t have that much time to read but this was one book I just couldn’t put away! I took my e-reader with me everywhere I went. I had to know how the story was going to end, would it have a happy ending or not? Well I’m not going to tell you, you’ll have to read this book for yourself to find out.

As I said before I was addicted after reading the prologue and I had to keep on reading. After finishing one chapter my only thought was, just one more and then I’ll stop reading, but I just couldn’t stop. I loved the characters, you read about a lot of them but the two main characters of this story are Lukas and Gretchen. There are some old characters returning to the nightwalker world in this one, and it’s fun to read about them and to know what has happened to them.

The story moves along in a steady pace, it keeps you turning the pages and on the edge of your seat. The story is exciting and there are some great twists in it I didn’t see coming.

The verdict of a book addict:

Why are you still reading this? Go over to Amazon or whatever dealer you have and get your own addiction fix by reading this amazing book!

Clawing her way back from oblivion is only the first step Mac must take down a perilous path, from the battle-filled streets of Dublin to the treacherous politics of an ancient, secret sect, through the tangled lies of men who claim to be her allies into the illusory world of the Fae themselves, where nothing is as it seems—and Mac is forced to face a soul-shattering truth.

The view of a book addict:

Damn it! that’s what I thought after reading the last chapter in this book. I’m glad I have the next book waiting on my shelves because I can’t wait that long to start reading it. This book is the most exciting one I’ve read so far! It starts just as we left Mac in the third book and that’s what I like the most about this series. It just picks up were you left of in the last book.

To be honest there has never been any series where I could read all the books one after the other. Most of the time I have to take a break from the series and read something diffrent. But not with this one, this one just keeps me comming back for more.

This book has the most exciting storyline so far, you’re constantly wondering what’s going to happen next and what monster you’re going to face.

The verdict of a book addict:

I’m dying to know what’s going to happen next! So if you ask me this is an amazing book!

Follow Friday #8

Published 15/03/2013 by supernaturalreadingaddict

There it is another Follow Friday! This time it’s a question but you can make it an acitivity:

Activity! Hopefully warm weather for most of us is here soon…so tell us about your favorite outdoor reading spot. Or take a picture.

First of all I hope it will be better weather soon because here in the Netherlands it’s still snowing from time to time. So to answer the question, I don’t have a favourite outdoor reading spot yet. I always red in the backyard when I lived at my parents house. But since I got my own place our garden isn’t ready yet. So I’m hoping it will be ready before the sumer starts here and I can find a nice place to sit and read while watching my little girl play.

Happy Friday everyone and enjoy wathever you’re reading!
