Follow Friday #11

Published 28/09/2012 by supernaturalreadingaddict

So another week has passed and it’s time for another Follow Friday! So this weeks question is:

Q:What is the biggest word you’ve seen used in a book lately – that made you stop and look it ip? Might as well leave the definition & book too.

To be honest I can’t remember looking up any words lately, when I just started reading English books I looked up some words. Lately I just haven’t found any words to look up.

Have a great weekend everyone!

So after reading this amazing book called: Conjure ( The Hoodoo Apprentice ) by Lea Nolan I decided to take a look at the authors website. So I found her website, read a little about her and then I found that she also had a street team for Conjure. Well I just couldn’t resist could I? I requested this book as an ARC and I got it the same day. When I started reading it, it jus blew me away and I couldn’t put the book down.

There isn’t a cool logo yet but I’m sure there will be one soon! And if you’re wondering where you can find my review for this book, I have to disappoint you because it isn’t online yet. To get you more excited for this great book, first here’s the gorgeous cover:

I fell in love with it the first moment I saw it, and of course here’s the synopsis of the book:

Be careful what you search for…
Emma Guthrie expects this summer to be like any other in the South Carolina Lowcountry–hot and steamy with plenty of beach time alongside her best friend and secret crush, Cooper Beaumont, and Emma’s ever-present twin brother, Jack. But then a mysterious eighteenth-century message in a bottle surfaces, revealing a hidden pirate bounty. Lured by the adventure, the trio discovers the treasure and unwittingly unleashes an ancient Gullah curse that attacks Jack with the wicked flesh-eating Creep and promises to steal Cooper’s soul on his approaching sixteenth birthday.

But when a strange girl appears bent on revenge, demon dogs become a threat, and Jack turns into a walking skeleton, Emma has no choice but to learn hoodoo magic to undo the hex, all before summer—and her friends–are lost forever.

The view of a book addict:

I love zombies, they are so predictible, and I loved this book. I found this book in the supernatural magazine. I saw the front cover of the book and some text and I was just hooked. I knew I had to read that book.

And I’m glad I did because this is a fast pacing, fun, scary book. It keeps you on the edge of your seat, there is romance and a lot of gore and blood of course. I couldn’t put this book down and I can’t wait to read what’s in story for Ashley in the next book.

The verdict of a book addict:

A great first book in a series, if you like zombies and action this is your book!

Follow Friday #10

Published 21/09/2012 by supernaturalreadingaddict

It’s friday again, time for some follow friday fun!

Q: What hyped up book do you think was worth all the talk?

I don’t think I’m going to be original about this but I have to say: The hunger games! I loved those books and I re-read them a lot and they never get boring. But Harry Potter is also a good example because those books were amazing too.

So what’s your answer?

Have a great weekend!

Review: Bared to you by

Published 20/09/2012 by supernaturalreadingaddict

Title:               Bared to you
Author:          Sylvia Day
Pages:             360
Catagory:      Romance
The story:

Our journey began in fire… Gideon Cross came into my life like lightning in the darkness-beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I’d never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily… Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other’s most private wounds… and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn’t tear us apart… “When it comes to brewing up scorchingly hot sexual chemistry, Day has few literary rivals.” — Booklist

( Taken from Goodreads )

The view of a book addict:

It said this would be a treat for fans of the fifty shades grey. Because I liked that series ( I haven’t read the last book ) I thought I should give this book a try. I’m glad I did read the book because I liked it.

I liked the book a bit more than the fifty shades books because I liked the story more. But there are a lot of similarities in this book and the fifty shades books

The verdict of a book addict:

A fun book to read and I know I will read the other books too.

Review: A discovery of witchess by Deborah Harkness

Published 17/09/2012 by supernaturalreadingaddict

Title:               A discovery of witches
Author:         Deborah Harkness
Pages:             690
Catagory:     Fantasy

The story:

A richly inventive novel about a centuries-old vampire, a spellbound witch, and the mysterious manuscript that draws them together.

Deep in the stacks of Oxford’s Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library. Diana has stumbled upon a coveted treasure lost for centuries-and she is the only creature who can break its spell.

Debut novelist Deborah Harkness has crafted a mesmerizing and addictive read, equal parts history and magic, romance and suspense. Diana is a bold heroine who meets her equal in vampire geneticist Matthew Clairmont, and gradually warms up to him as their alliance deepens into an intimacy that violates age-old taboos. This smart, sophisticated story harks back to the novels of Anne Rice, but it is as contemporary and sensual as theTwilight series-with an extra serving of historical realism.

( taken from goodreads )

The view of a book addict:

I’m a little late on this one probably but I had this book on my to read list for a long time. I really liked the story, it was really entertaining. I’m a big fan of mysteries and combine that with some supernatural creatures and for me you have the perfect book.

Although it took some time to get into the story, to get all the diffrent supernaturals and the bond between them all, this is a really good book. I kept turning the pages and found myself thinking, just one more chapter a lot. I loved the main characters and their story but I was also very curious about the other characters in the book.
The verdict of a book addict:

A great book that you have to give a chance! I can’t wait to read the next one.
