TBR Thursday #10

Published 31/03/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict
It’s thursday, so time for TBR Thursday hosted by Book Love Blog
I recieved one book this week, so I’ll also list the books I’m going to read this week.
The book I recieved is Spiral X by J.J. Westendarp
Cheryl Erikson is a Vampire Hunter with a problem. A dangerous new drug named Plast has found its way onto the streets of Dallas. She would prefer to let the DEA and local law enforcement handle everything, but since the dealers also happen to be vampires, she has no choice but to step in and put a stop to it.

With the help of her best friend Virgil and a fellow Hunter named Tank, Cheryl must work to eradicate Plast from the streets of Dallas. It’s a task that becomes more difficult as she comes under the gun, quite literally, from a contract out on her head. Coupled with a nosy police detective looking to peg her for a triple homicide, and a sudden interest in her activities from a powerful vampire recently arrived in the area, it’s enough to force her to accept help from the least likely of sources, a mysterious Hunter named Rev. Through him, everything she thinks she knows, and everything she stands for, is challenged in ways she never imagined

Then the books I’m going to read this week:

First up is The banishing by Fiona Dodwell

When Melissa first notices the change in her husband – subtle at first – she thinks it may be the stress of moving into their new home. Or working long hours. But soon he turns into something far darker, far more sinister.

Who or what is the dark shadow living beneath her husband? What is haunting him?

Melissa must quickly find the answer to these questions, because Mark is changing, and fast. Soon her fight will be for her life, as well as for her marriage.

The Banishing is a dark, disturbing novel exploring the world of demonic possession, spiritual oppression and domestic abuse

After this book I’ll read Spiral X and after Spiral X I’ll read: This side of the grave by Jeaniene Frost

Danger waits on both sides of the grave.
Half-vampire Cat Crawfield and her vampire husband Bones have fought for their lives, as well as for their relationship. But just when they’ve triumphed over the latest battle, Cat’s new and unexpected abilities threaten to upset a long-standing balance . . .
With the mysterious disappearance of vampires, rumors abound that a species war is brewing. A zealot is inciting tensions between the vampires and ghouls, and if these two powerful groups clash, innocent mortals could become collateral damage. Now Cat and Bones are forced to seek help from a dangerous “ally”—the ghoul queen of New Orleans herself. But the price of her assistance may prove more treacherous than even the threat of a supernatural war . . . to say nothing of the repercussions Cat never imagined.

So that’s it for me this week!

Wonderful series Wednesday #9

Published 30/03/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

Series title: Enchanted Island series
Author: Krystal McLaughlin
How many books are there: 2 for now
Catagory: Supernatural
What is the series about:
Goodreads summary of the first book:
When Sophia and Drew McKibben’s parents are killed in a tragic car accident, they are shipped off to live with an aunt they never even knew existed. Believing that they are moving to a privately owned island just off of the coast of Mystic, CT to live alone with her, they are surprised to find a sort of under-aged bed and breakfast.

Sophia draws the attention of one of the locals, Falen, immediately. He always seems to know exactly what she is thinking, and to her frustration, everything she does seems to amuse him. When a newcomer to the island brings with him a sense of deja vu, she begins to ask herself the ultimate question: Am I going crazy?

Sophia’s world starts to unravel when she notices her own brother acting just as abnormal as the rest of them. When she begins to realize that the life she left behind looks even more bizarre then the one she was forced to leave it for, she’s faced with a decision to make: embrace the new life that has been given to her, or drown in the past. Either choice brings with it more secrets and deceptions to unearth. The problem

now is that the two worlds may actually be more intertwined than she thought

Wich books have I read already?
I have read the first two books, I loved them so much! So I hope there will be many more books in this series. The books suck you in and won’t let you go even after you finish the books. I have these books on my e-reader but I’m sure I’m going to buy the books as well as soon as they come out just to have them on my shelves and read them again! If  you love books with magic in it than this is your series!
Are there more books coming?

I know there is a third book on the way!

Review: Glimmer by Vivi Ana

Published 29/03/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

Title:               Glimmer
Author:          Vivi Ana
Pages:             75 ( on my e-reader )
Catagory:      Paranormal Romance

The story:

Although Nina Decker’s father is one hundred percent human, her mother is not. She belongs to an ancient and rare race of people called the fae. But these fae are not those written about in fairytales, with pretty gossamer wings and fairy dust, no they are sinister, malevolent and unkind, dwelling in another realm called Nightfall. More prone to destroy than to create. Abandoned at the age of ten, to be raised by her father, Nina has never forgiven her mother for that or for ruining her father. A man of only sixty, he appears to be closer to eighty with a frail body and mind. He’s been fae-struck and is slowly fading away to nothing. This is one of the reasons why Nina has never gotten too close to any one man. She doesn’t want to seal his fate like her father’s has been.

But she can’t deny her fiery connection to Severin Saint Morgan, a sexy as hell werewolf and the alpha of the Vancouver wolf pack. He’s an Australian immigrant working at the university as an associate professor, and the publicized face of the werewolf species. He makes her blood boil with desire and makes her tremble with fear. But its only when her mother reappears with startling revelations about an upcoming war between the fae and the werewolves that Nina realizes that she may be a pawn for both sides

The view of a book addict:

I had a little trouble getting into this book, I like to jump right into the action and this book builds up the tention. But as I read more of the story I really started to like it. The story is beautiful but I didn’t really like the ending. It just ends weird for me and I hope there will be another book that tells more about the people in this book.

The verdict of a book addict:

I good paranormal romance book, I had a little trouble getting into it. But the story grew on me and it got really good!

  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Booktitle: Lover unleashed ( The black dagger brotherhood )
Author: J.R. Ward
Release date ( if known) : march 29, 2011
Catagory: Fantasy, Vampires
Goodreads summary
Payne, twin sister of Vishous, is cut from the same dark, warrior cloth as her brother: A fighter by nature, and a maverick when it comes to the traditional role of Chosen females, there is no place for her on the Far Side… and no role for her on the front lines of the war, either.

When she suffers a paralyzing injury, human surgeon Dr. Manuel Manello is called in to treat her as only he can- and he soon gets sucked into her dangerous, secret world. Although he never before believed in things that go bump in the night- like vampires- he finds himself more than willing to be seduced by the powerful female who marks both his body and his soul.

As the two find so much more than an erotic connection, the human and vampire worlds collide … just as a

centuries old score catches up with Payne and puts both her love and her life in deadly jeopardy

Why do I want to read this book?
I’ve only read the first book in this series, but the rest of the book are on their way. I fell in love with this series by just reading the first book. But I couldn’t pre-order this book on the dutch website at the moment. That’s why this book is on my wishlist.

The view of a book addict:

I found this book on another blog and I just knew that I had to read this one. So thanks to Netgalley now I did! I’m a huge steampunk fan so that’s what really attracted me to this book firs. And of course the storyline looked great, I wasn’t disappointed because I loved the book. Set in Victorian London this story really speaks to me.
I loved the main characters and the fact that you got to read the story from both their point of views. The story is both romantic and has a lot of action in it. For me this is the best combination in a book

The verdict of a book addict:

This is a great steampunk novel, with lots of action and romance in it. If you’re into Victorian London, Steampunk and Sorcery this is your book!

Random Saturday: Bad boys

Published 26/03/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

So I want to try something new called random saturday. Random saturday can be about anything book related. So this weekend I’ll tell a little bit about my love for the bad boys in books.

Why do I like them so much? Well what’s there not to like? I just like to think that every bad boy has his good sides and most of the time that good side shows when the meet a girl they like. They’ll protect her at any cost. Who doesn’t want a man that can protect her, of course we’re all strong women and we can fight our own battles. But just knowing that your man has your back isn’t that an amazing feeling?

And maybe it’s just because the bad guys are drop dead gorgous most of the time haha. Come on the eye needs something too doesn’t it? I don’t believe that I’m the only girl that falls for the bad boys, so if your reading this and you recognize yourself, don’t be shy and leave a comment. Tell me who is your favourite bad boy and why?

Well I have a long list of bad boys, but I’ve been reading the first book in the Black dagger brotherhood and if there is one bad boy in that book it’s Zsadist. Although I don’t know much about him yet because I haven’t read his book. He already has a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to read his story!

So that’s it for this ramdom saturday! Have a great weekend everyone.
