Wishlist monday #2

Published 31/01/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

So it’s monday again so time for another book on my wishlist

Booktitle: Nightshade
Author:    Andrea Cremer
Release date ( if known) : Already released
Catagory: werewolves
Goodreads summary:
Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she’ll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters’ laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything— including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?
Why do I want to read this book?
I found this book a little while ago an Amazon, I was looking for new books about shifters. I just really liked the summary on Amazon so I decided to put the book on my wishlist. And I’m just a sucker for the forbidden love thing, I’ve always been since I read Romeo and Juliet. So that part of the story really spoke to me, I haven’t bought this book yet but I will soon that’s for sure!

Review: Awakened ( a house of nght novel ) by P.C. & Kristin Cast

Published 31/01/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

Title:               Awakened ( a house of night novel )
Author:           P.C & Kirstin Cast
Pages:             290
Catagory:        Vampires

The story:

At the start of Awakened, the pulse-pounding eighth installment of the bestselling House of Night series, Zoey has returned, mostly whole, from the Otherworld to her rightful place as High Priestess at the House of Night. Her friends are just glad to have her back, but after losing her human consort, Heath, will Zoey—or her relationship with her super- hot Warrior, Stark—ever be the same? Stevie Rae is drawn even closer to Rephaim, the Raven Mocker with whom she shares a mysterious and powerful Imprint, but he is a dangerous secret that isolates her from her school, her red fledglings, and even her best friends. When the dark threat of Neferet—who is coming closer and closer to achieving her twisted goal of immortality—and Kalona returns, what will it take to keep the House of Night from being lost forever, and what will one desperate girl do to keep her heart from being irreparably broken?

The view of a book addict:
I had a little trouble getting into this book, I just didn’t know what happened in the last book anymore. I knew the bigger storyline but not all the small things. I really didn’t know if I was going to like this book.
This book doesn’t have the excitement and tension the other books had, to me it felt more like a slowing down book and prepare for the next one ( at least that’s what I hope ). Although it was nice to read about all the characters and get to know them again, I did miss the big finale of the book. The finale was really cool and nice but I did miss the big fight you usually get at the end of the books.
The verdict of a book addict:

This book is more of a get to know the main characters again if you ask me. If you read the whole series of course you then want to read this one. But to me it isn’t the best book in the series. I hope the next book will be more exciting again!

It’s sunday again! So time for another top 5 sundays! The top 5 sundays is hosted by Larissa’s bookish life. The top 5 today is:
Books you loved and was suprised by it.
I requested to review this book, so I didn’t know what to expect, I knew what the story was about of course but you never know if your really going to like a book. But I just loved it, I just couldn’t put this book down.
Another book I requested to review and I loved it from page 1!
Because I never read a zombie book before I just didn’t know if I would like this. But I loved it it’s an amazing book. I’ve read the second book in the series as well and now I’m waitng for the third book to come out.
Of course I knew that I would like this book when I started reading it because otherwise I wouldn’t have bought it. But I didn’t expect I would love it so much as I did, so I’m wating for the next book in this series of course.
I love the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast so I just didn’t know if I would like this book. But I really wanted to read it to find out. And of cours because it’s one of the books in this top 5 I loved it!
So that’s it for this sunday!

Review: Wings of a demon by Ashley Davis

Published 28/01/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

Title:               Wings of a demon
Author:           Ashley Davis
Pages:             305 on my e-reader
Catagory:        Paranormal romance

The story:

She Yearned For More . . .
Cilia Bradley led a life of solitude. Everything she ever needed was provided for her by one of the most attractive men she had ever met. Unfortunately, the only thing he could not provide for her was the comfort of companionship. The arranged marriage was set with its own limitations and rules; rules that left her wondering if there was something more . . . and rules she was desperate to not to break once she met the one man that could push her over the edge.
He Had Nothing To Live For . . .
Widely known as the personal assassin for the one man who controlled the under realm, everyone feared his games. Life meant nothing but cruel games of violence and death. There was no other alternative for him to serve as commanded until the day his sentence ended. Only halfway through his contract, he felt as if life itself was no longer important . . . at least until the day he met her.
But Together . . . . . .
they could make each other happy. It was only each other that would be able to fuel the desires within, and fill the voids in their hearts. Together their lives would become everything they had ever dreamed up. Trent will stop at nothing to have her by his side, regardless of the fact her father-in-law is the one person who can void his contract. But would Cilia break her promise, possibly losing the gift of life she had been given in return?

The view of a book addict:

This story had me from the first words until the last pages of the story. The prologue takes you in and never let’s you go. The story is well written and even though there are a lot of characters in the book it’s easy to follow.
At first I was affraid I wouldn’t be able to follow all the story lines in this book but after reading about all the characters I found it easy to switch from one to the other. The fact that their stories all come together does make this easier. You reed how all of them are meeting each other and how they are connected.
It moves in a fast pace and that makes this book hard to put down!

The verdict of a book addict:

This story is exciting and has lot of great characters. It has sex scenes but they didn’t bother me, they made the story work and were beautifully written. This is a must read for people out there in love with the paranormal romance genre. I know I loved every word and every sentence and I can’t wait for to read the next book!

Follow friday & Blog Hop time!

Published 28/01/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

So it’s friday again, so it’s time for a follow friday and a blog hop. Lets start with the follow friday

Follow friday is hosted by parajunkee’s view. The question this week is:

What is/was your favorite subject in school?

Well my favourite subject in school was English. As a dutch girl, english in the Netherlands isn’t the same as english in England or America or any other english speaking country. We had to lear how to write, read and speak english. I’ve learned a lot in the classes and it made me want to learn more english, so I started reading english books. And that brought me here blogging about books haha.

So that’s it for this follow friday!

Book Blogger HopThen we have the blog hop! This is hosted by Crazy for Books The question this week is:

“What book are you most looking forward to seeing published in 2011?  Why are you anticipating that book?”

The book I’m looking forward to the most has to be Cryptic Cravings by Ellen schreiber. As a 16 year old girl I read the dutch verson of Vampire kisses and fell in love with it, I searched every bookstore for that book and it’s still my most favourite book ever. So I’m really looking forward for book 8 in this series

So that’s it for this week, have fun this weekend!!

review the dead tossed waves ( forest of hands and teeth #2 ) by Carrie Ryan

Published 27/01/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

Title:               The dead tossed waves ( the forest of hands and teeth #2 )
Author:           Carrie Ryan
Pages:             404
Catagory:        zombies

The story according to the book addict:

This book tells the story of Gabriella, she lives with her mother in the lighthous by the beach. Her mother is from the forest of hands and teeth and has been teaching her to stay away from it.
But one night Gabriella goes into an old amusement park and there something terrible happens. After that Gabriella has to face her mothers past as well as her own. She has to face te secrets her mother kept in order to survive.

Go tosummary on goodreads

The view of a book addict:
I was in love with the forest of hands and teeth and a little scared to start this book. Not because I thought it would be a bad book, but because the first book gave me nightmares. And just as the first book I was instantly taken away to a land where the dead rule and the living, live in fear.
This story unravels more of what happened after Mary ( the main character of the forest of hands and teeth ) left her village behind to find the ocean. But it also tells a new story and it takes us back again into the forest. As the first book the story moves from the quiet parts to the scary parts in an instant, that’s what I loved about the first book as well. You feel save and think that nothing can happen between the fences and just when you get comfortable you’re confronted with something horrible.

The verdict of a book addict:
For everyone in love with the forest of hands and teeth this is a must read! This book opened a whole new world for me. A world of the dead! Amazing book and I can’t wait for the next book to come out.

Review: The witches lottery by Krystal Mclaughlin

Published 26/01/2011 by supernaturalreadingaddict

Title:               The witches lottery
Author:           Krystal Mclaughlin
Pages:             296 on my e-reader
Catagory:        Supernatural

The story:

When Sophia and Drew McKibben’s parents are killed in a tragic car accident, they are shipped off to live with an aunt they never even knew existed. Believing that they are moving to a privately owned island just off of the coast of Mystic, CT to live alone with her, they are surprised to find a sort of under-aged bed and breakfast.

Sophia draws the attention of one of the locals, Falen, immediately. He always seems to know exactly what she is thinking, and to her frustration, everything she does seems to amuse him. When a newcomer to the island brings with him a sense of deja vu, she begins to ask herself the ultimate question: Am I going crazy?

Sophia’s world starts to unravel when she notices her own brother acting just as abnormal as the rest of them. When she begins to realize that the life she left behind looks even more bizarre then the one she was forced to leave it for, she’s faced with a decision to make: embrace the new life that has been given to her, or drown in the past. Either choice brings with it more secrets and deceptions to unearth. The problem now is that the two worlds may actually be more intertwined than she thought

The view of a book addict:

I loved this book from page one! The story is easy written and I fell in love with the main character at once. Because of the way the story is told you learn a lot about her, but you only learn what she knows already. Everything else she learns, you learn with her. I really traveled through the book with her, and that makes a book really great in my opinion.
The story moves along in a fast pace but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything of the story, all the important things are told and explained. The book has a very interesting and exciting storyline and it made me want to turn every page and read it until the end. Only to find that it won’t be the end because there are more books to come! The Epilogue left me breathless and made me want to dive into the next book right away, but because it’s not out yet I’ll just have to wait.

The verdict of a book addict:

This book makes you want to curl up on the couch on a rainy day and just ignore everything en everyone around you! I can’t wait to read the next book in this series and I’ll make sure I have nothing else to do the day I start reading this because putting this book down is just to hard!
